Korean motorcycles and scooters.

I’ve never been much of a motorcycle enthusiast. Like every little kid growing up in a small town I longed to own a “dirt bike” as we call them. Beyond that my interest in them has been negligible.

One of the many things that caught my attention in South Korea was the interesting and diverse collection of motorcycles and scooters to be found. Below I’ve included some of the ones I was able to capture and thought were nice.  You may have already seen Korea’s best motorcycle but you’ll want to read on none the less.  This post is for all my friends who own bikes; hope you like it!

Starting off the thread are some “girly” scooters (I say girly in the most kind way as in feminine):

Onto a few scooters of the night.  One of the scooters is a little hard to make out but you can still get a feel for it’s style by the neon glow it produced.  These are built for style and comfort and often have loud exhaust and speaker systems:

I know I’ll catch a lot of heat from various groups but I’m personally not a big fan of Harley bikes.  That being said I’m including this picture here for those of you that are:

Now onto a set of really nice motorcycles.  I have no idea if these are custom paint jobs or if they have custom parts.  None the less they looked good to my untrained eyes.  Besides one is parked next to some graffiti, that’s like two birds with one stone:

Scooters in South Korea are almost everywhere.  You’ll often find delivery drivers on a scooter.  I can’t emphasize this enough, absolutely packed and weighed down while delivering all kinds of merchandise.  It’s also not unusual for them to drive on the sidewalk either because many of the side/streets wouldn’t necessarily have room for a truck or car to pass through them.  Just how much do they pack onto the motorbikes? Have a look at this picture:

On most occasions when I’ve encountered a scooter on the sidewalk they were driving at a much slower pace.  The other thing I noticed were the variations of designs.  There seemed to be so many different types of scooters.  It still catches you by surprise when one of the scooters “whizzes” past you from behind:

Finally I’ll end with a picture of what I thought was the nicest bike I had a chance to capture.  It didn’t hurt that there was a cute woman driving it.  There’s something to be said about seeing a cute girl with headphones, shorts and sandals driving such a nice motorcycle with confidence…
