In an project to be more productive, I present to you a few pieces of Montreal.

sticker attached to traffic signJust like the post title indicates In an project to be more productive, I present to you a few pieces of Montreal.

It started off like It always does on foot.  I don’t remember exactly where I saw the sticker you see to the right.  I just remember catching it out of the corner of my eye as I walked by.  The words registered a half step later as a smile appeared on my face.  I turned around to take a picture; It was just too good to pass up. A few individuals on the sidewalk looked at me strangely wondering what it was exactly that I was taking a picture of.

A few hours later and I was in a different part of town.  I Snapped these while I was walking to a nearby metro station.  I spotted several more “unknown goblins” in and around the neighborhoods I walked through.

I then headed down to scour one of the better known spots in Montreal.  It was my first visit of the summer.  There were a lot of fresh dedication pieces up for some of the young men who passed away not too long ago.

I’m starting to think the city should tear the building down before one of the large cement floor or ceilings crumbles with some kids in there.  It be a shame to lose it but I suppose that’s a post for another day.

  • The first picture is a dedication piece.
  • The one in the middle is interesting because the skinny guy in trouble is actually painted on a support beam sticking out of the wall.  Exactly as if he was hiding behind a tree.  It reminded me of another piece taken from the rooftop of the building that you can see here.  I never realized that there was a letter off in the horizon when looking at the piece for the first time.  (That picture belongs to the amazing site http://mtlgraff.blogspot.com/.   If you’re a fan of photography, street art, graffiti and not familiar with the mtlgraff blog you really need to check it out. )
  • The last of the set I just enjoyed the vibe or the feeling of the picture.  The broken door frame, the waters reflection.  Just something about it.

I’ll finish off with what I consider an amazing piece of art!  It made getting out there at least once before the snow fell completely worth it:
