Officer Bubbles or Toronto Police Constable Adam Josephs as he prefers to be called is upset. I’ll start by saying that perhaps Constable Adam Josephs is a great individual. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. I wouldn’t want to start this post on the wrong foot because from here on end I’m going to be blunt. Continue reading
Useless Super Power
I have a useless super power. Maybe one day it’ll come in handy but all it does at the moment is drive me nuts. Here it is… Picture walking onto a subway platform, department store or any public place. You’ve picked out a quiet spot all by yourself. There’s lots of room in the store or on the platform or wherever you happen to be. Then someone else arrives and decides to pick a spot beside you. People continue to gather around you while the rest of the area is completely empty. I usually end up moving to another empty area and then what happens?
Before I know it a group of people have once again gathered around me while there’s lots of other places they could be. A lot of times I’ll go out of my way just to find a spot that doesn’t have people around it and before you know it KABLAM! I’m surrounded by people again.
This happens at the weirdest places and at the weirdest times (libraries for example). Another good example is in an otherwise empty store: There will literally be no one in the whole fucking store but for some reason everyone has decided to gather around the cans of kidney beans I’m looking at.
So there it is my useless super power: Attracting people like moths to a flame. Maybe some day it’ll come in handy but as it stands it just drives me nuts. Anyone else out there have a useless super power?
Confidence, attitude and dreams.
I’ve had reoccurring dreams for most of my life. Some since childhood while others seem to just happen randomly. A funny one that keeps happening these days is that I’m a UFC fighter! Now I’m a huge UFC fan but I am in no way any where near a UFC fighter. None the less in my dreams I’ve got UFC president Dana White either coming down and talking to me about my next fight or I’m getting into the cage; loosing the fight and then Dana White comes in to tell me I’m cut from the UFC.
This is one of those reoccurring dreams that always leaves a smile on my face whenever I wake up because it’s a surreal situation.
I thought it would make a good introduction to some words by Mike Tyson from the most recent episode of “The ultimate fighter” television program. George St-Pierre knew that Dana White was good friends with Mike Tyson and he asked if he would invite him to speak to his team. GSP (George St-Pierre) is one of the trainers on this season of the show.
For those of you not familiar with this show: At the beginning of the season MMA fighters enter a house and are assigned to two different teams with each of the coaches usually being an established UFC fighter. At the end of each episodes two MMA fighters do what they are there to do: they fight. Continue reading
A little comfort food; Rice congee.
This was my second attempt at rice congee. The first attempt was a horrible failure. I suppose that’s what happens when you just wing it and don’t follow any recipe at all. For my second attempt I grabbed the first recipe I found online: 9 cups of water for 1 cup of rice keeping it on a low simmer for an hour to an hour and a half. Continue reading
Ever get that feeling?
No matter how hard I try to shake the feeling every so often from deep inside of me it takes over. I’ve noticed that it seems to be stronger during the changing of the seasons so and I’ve gotten used to it’s ebb and flow. None the less the urge to be on the road in some other country seems to make it’s voice a little louder.
Most times I reminisce about places I’ve been lucky enough to visit (France, Italy, Monaco, a few states in the US and all but a few of the Canadian provinces. With the two most recent additions to the list being Japan and South Korea). Continue reading
