There’s a sign in a window I walk by daily. It’s a medium size white rectangular sign with bold red letters: “Keep It weird Montreal“. I couldn’t tell you if it has just been placed in the window or if it’s been there for a long time. I first noticed it on a nice sunny spring afternoon. As soon as I read it, a large grin appeared on my face. It soothed and lifted my spirits at the same time. Just something about keeping things weird which appeals to me.
I haven’t posted in several months (over half a year!). One of the major reasons I wasn’t able to post new articles was because I no longer had internet at home. This meant If I wanted to update the site I had to either use a friends internet connection or use publicly accessible wireless internet connections.
In geek talk, I didn’t want to be connecting to my site and sending my password in the clear. This meant either setting up a ssl certificate for the site, using ssh or finally using the internet at friends place. It certainly would of been possible to update the site via ssh, but it involved a lot of hours I wasn’t prepared to put in. An ssl certificate was out of the budget at the time as I had other priorities. A friends place was too inconvenient in the sense I would of ended up socializing and not working on new post.
