Another hostel review from my time spent in Seoul. The Seoulwise hostel was probably one of the nicest I’ve had the pleasure of staying with. When I first met the owner and reserved a bed in a 4 bed dormitory he explained that he had only been opened a few months.
Some of the things I really enjoyed about this hostel were the facilities, the building itself and it’s location. It’s located a few minutes walk from the Hongik station and it’s a very popular party/university neighborhood. The nearest subway station is approximately 10-15 minutes walking distance and is on the green metro line. The green line circles the city of Seoul which is quite convenient if you haven’t yet familiarized yourself with all of the lines.
The hallways are littered with pictures taken by the owner on many of his own travels. You could tell by the look of the building and the facilities that everything was very new. The building itself was built out of thick cement walls which made it very soundproof. The 4 bed dormitory had it’s own washroom, a small room to dry clothes or store suitcases, two bunkbeds and a small counter with a sink and some additional storage room. Here are a few pics from the room:
There were washing machines available for use in the desk area and room on the roof to dry all your clothes. There is a large communal area that is divided into four separate rooms: One has a small bathroom with shower, the other is a large tv room that included a large flat screen television, the third room had two computers in them and finally there was a large kitchen. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the usual niceties including a stove, fridge, microwave, water cooler and dishes. the kitchen also had a really nice large table where people would gather around and socialize. This whole area was completely air conditioned which was extremely nice appreciated when you’re living through some of those hot and muggy Seoul summer days.
I’ve reviewed two Seoul Hostels and it would be a hard decision to choose between Banana Backpackers and Seoulwise guesthouse. It’s a little bit like choosing between two of your favorite treats. Doesn’t really matter which one you take it’s going to be great.
Make sure you check out the Seoulwise guesthouse website. It has a lot more pictures than I included!
